Revor Gumbi is a South African comedian, writer, and actor best known for co-hosting (and voice-overing) the Mzansi Magic entertainment magazine show Headline (2010–2013) and his active and outspoken Twitter account

In SABC1’s sitcom Ses’Top La, he plays Gideon Gwinyimbuzi, the apartment building’s dim-witted security guard, and hosted Msawawa True South with Trevor Gumbi.

Trevor publishes monthly columns for Campus Cosmo and Cosmopolitan as an agonising Uncle and a helpful Professor. In January 2011, Cosmopolitan named Trevor one of South Africa’s Twitter Kings.

He co-hosted a multi-day Nando’s conference with John Vlismas in 2005 and performed for McDonalds’ biggest internal launch in 2006. He performed in the FNB Lifestart campus road event on tertiary campuses across that year.

Gumbi, an outspoken and controversial figure, entertains executives and staff with personalised material in the corporate sector.

Gumbi has performed at Oppikoppi, Rocking the Daisies, King-size comedy jams, Blacks Only, Laugh out Loud, and Arts Alive comedy festivals.

He voiced Jozi Zoo on e.tv, performed “The black guy at a braai” on 5fm, and starred in “The desk with Offside Vilakazi” for the Vodacom Super 14 rugby season.

He appeared weekly on SABC1’s The Real Goboza and was a featured comedian on Comedy Central’s Comedy Central Presents in January. Live at Parker’s 2013, 2013.

Gumbi performs stand-up comedy in comedy clubs across. On November 23, he was born.

In the 2014 eKasi+ sitcom Van ‘n Sit, he played Thomas Gumbi, a modest Newcastle township man in love with Mpho, the last born and only daughter of the royal affluent Ledwaba family.

In 2016, he replaced DJ Sbu as SABC1 game show Friends Like These host for the fourteenth season. He started starring in SABC3’s dark comedy-drama The Sober Companion.
