Lady du

Lady Du is one of the most recognisable voices in South African Amapiano, known for her distinctive raspy delivery, big personality and ability to move easily between singing, rapping and DJing. Born Duduzile Ngwenya and raised in a musical family, she was behind the decks from a young age before eventually finding her breakout sound in Amapiano.

Her rise came through a run of tracks that became part of the genre’s early mainstream explosion. She featured on “Umsebenzi Wethu” alongside Busta 929, Mpura, Reece Madlisa, Mr JazziQ and Zuma, and went on to build her own catalogue with songs including “Dakiwe” with DBN Gogo, “Woza” and “Khuphuka”. She has also worked with some of Amapiano’s biggest names, including DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and Mr JazziQ.

Lady Du Live and on Stage

Lady Du is a strong fit for festivals, large corporate celebrations, nightlife events, university events and high-energy private functions where the crowd wants recognisable Amapiano and a performer who can genuinely work a room. Her sets lean heavily into rhythm, vocals and crowd interaction rather than simply standing behind the decks, which gives her bookings more of a live-performance feel.

She has also stayed busy away from the stage. In 2026, Lady Du spoke publicly about expanding her businesses, including her growing salon ventures, while continuing to work on new music. After resolving a long-running contract dispute earlier in the year, she returned to the studio and began preparing new solo releases, marking a fresh chapter in her music career.

For an event looking for authentic South African Amapiano, familiar hits and serious crowd energy, Lady Du is a booking that brings both name recognition and personality to the stage.
