Lady Zamar has been part of South Africa’s dance music story
for well over a decade, with a voice that is instantly recognisable over a
sweet house beat! Born Yamikani Janet Banda, she first gained wider attention
through Junior Taurus and their 2015 album Cotton Candy, before finding
major solo success with King Zamar in 2017.
Her Album King Zamar gave her some of the songs she
is still best known for, like “Collide” and “My Baby”, while her feature on
Prince Kaybee’s “Charlotte” became another major part of her catalogue. The
album went on to win Best Dance Album at the 2018 South African Music Awards.
Lady Zamar is a strong choice for festivals, corporate
celebrations, awards evenings and premium private events. Her performances move
between big dance records and more emotional, vocal-driven moments, giving
audiences more than a straightforward house set.
Her sound has continued to change too. The 2024 album Rainbow
brought Amapiano, Afrobeats and Afro-tech influences into the mix, followed by
tracks such as “Russian Roulette” and “Show Me” in 2025.
In 2026, she returned with Emperor Eclipse – Realm 1:
Awakening, followed by new singles including “First Class”, “Uyabalabala”
and “Romantique”.
