Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on the border of Rwanda, Dodo Nyoka fled a war-torn region with his family and grew up in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. He overcame a childhood speech impediment, using singing and public speaking as communication tools, and even won a national public speaking competition in 2019, earning recognition for his rhino conservation efforts. He was studying civil engineering on a scholarship at the University of Pretoria (TUKS) before the COVID-19 pandemic led him to pursue a music career.
Music and Career
Nyoka gained a contract with Coleske Artist Management after his success on Die Kontrak and has since built a significant fanbase. He is known for his ability to sing in both English and Afrikaans, often promoting messages of unity and belonging.
