Dr Imtiaz Sooliman is a South African humanitarian and the founder of the international disaster relief organisation, Gift of the Givers Foundation. While he was a medical doctor by training, he gave up his private practice in the mid-1990s to pursue humanitarian work full-time. Gift of the Givers provides aid in response to disasters and assists vulnerable communities across Africa and beyond. 

Gift of the Givers Foundation 

  • Mission: Founded in 1992, the Gift of the Givers Foundation provides life-saving goods and on-the-ground support to people in need, regardless of their background. It is the largest disaster response agency of African origin.
  • Key activities: The foundation’s initiatives include delivering humanitarian aid, establishing clinics and mobile hospitals, and providing food, water, and shelter.
