Kimberley Jayde Robinson, better known as Kim Jayde, has carved out a unique place in African entertainment. Today she’s recognised as a television presenter, entrepreneur, creative director and one of the continent’s most influential voices in sneaker and streetwear culture, but her career didn’t start in front of television cameras.
Kim started modelling while she was still at university, partly as a way to help pay for her studies. After graduating, she stayed close to the fashion world, taking on promo work, sharing her style online and slowly building a name for herself. That online presence helped put her on the radar of MTV Base Africa, where she went on to spend four years as a presenter.
In 2019, she started KJ Productions, giving herself more room to work on the kinds of stories and lifestyle content she wanted to create. It also gave her a way to work with younger African creatives coming up in the industry.
Her love for sneakers and streetwear later became Kickin’ It With Kim Jayde. The show launched on YouTube in 2020 and grew from there, moving beyond online audiences into mainstream television. By 2026, Season 3 was airing on Bravo Africa across 52 African countries.
Kim has also been recognised for her work in fashion, media and entertainment. Her accolades include Global Icon at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards in 2025, Fashion Icon at the South Africa Fashion Awards in 2025, Most Innovative Style at the SA Style Awards in 2023, the Fashion & Style award at the DStv Content Creator Awards in 2022, and a spot on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list in 2019.
