Crimson House

Crimson House has become one of South Africa’s most successful independent bands, selling out shows across the country, headlining major music festivals, and building a loyal cult following since forming in 2010. Known for their explosive and transformative live performances, they have become the band every event wants on stage – so much so that many major acts prefer not to follow them. There’s a reason they usually close the night at festivals. Every song they perform is a story and an experience of its own.

With four albums and a barrage of singles behind them, songs like Unicorns have made the band a cult favourite among true music lovers around the world.

Their rise, however, was an uphill battle. Refusing to follow trends or fit neatly into commercial genres, Crimson House carved out a sound entirely of their own. Some call it Afro-Ska, others Gypsy Punk or Gypsy Jungle Music. Whatever the label, the band borrows from every corner of music. In a single show, they move seamlessly between jazz, rock, blues, ska, Afrobeat, Balkan music, hip hop, and even live EDM. Chopping guitars and wild saxophones are backed by a rhythm section as heavy as a festival mainstage itself.
