Boris Guderjahn and Ryan Sackanary perform together as The Jazz Catz, a Cape Town jazz duo built around saxophone and keys. A lot of their music has a relaxed, easy-going feel to it, but they also mix in contemporary and classical influences depending on the track or live set.

Rather than relying on outside producers or session musicians, the pair handle the writing, arranging, recording, and live performance side of the project themselves. Their debut album Timeless focused on original compositions, while Con Fusion leaned into a more intricate and varied sound. In 2022, they released the single Rat Race.

The duo has steadily built a name for themselves within the South African jazz space, earning strong placements on ReverbNation’s jazz charts and receiving a nomination for Best Contemporary Jazz Album at the Mzantsi Jazz Awards.
