Black Motion is a South African afro house duo that has been shaking up the music scene since 2010. Originally made up of Murdah Bongz (Robert Mahosana) and Smol (Roy Thabo Mabogwane), they hit it big with their debut single “Banane Mavoko,” grabbing international attention right off the bat.
Their debut album Talking to the Drums dropped in 2011, mixing deep house, tribal house, and tech house elements. It earned them multiple award nominations and set the stage for their rise. By the time they released Fortune Teller in 2014, they were unstoppable, snagging gold certification and winning Best Dance Album at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs).
In 2020, they wowed fans with The Healers: The Last Chapter, featuring stars like Nokwazi and Ami Faku. This album won Best Dance Album at the 27th SAMAs. Even after Murdah Bongz left to go solo, the group kept the energy high with new member Problem Child Ten83 (Kabelo Koma).
Their latest album, Rebirth of the Drum, shows they’re still on top of their game, bringing fresh beats and infectious rhythms that keep fans dancing. Black Motion’s journey is all about innovation, and pure afro house magic.
