Furthermore “Elvis Blue” also holds the worldwide record for the first Idols winner to record and release an album within 30 days of winning the competition. On hearing the news Elvis said “I’m over the moon, I have seen some of my dreams come true. First and foremost I want to thank the fans who made this possible and everyone at Universal Music who worked so hard to make this happen”.
Universal Music Managing Director Harry Voerman quoted “We are very happy to be working with such a talented and committed musician, Elvis Blue deserves this success and more”.
The recording of The “Elvis Blue” album kicked off immediately after his Idols final success with 2 sets of studios and producers/engineers working around the clock to finish the record. All three producers, Brian `O Shea, Crighton Goodwill and Jake Odendaal are SAMA `Producer of the Year` award winners in their own right. The material for the album was a combination of songs written by some of the top pop writers in the world (Lighthouse”, “Save me”,”Right here, Right now”) and Elvis’s own original material (“I’m on fire”, “Lightly tread”, “Lately”). There were contributions from some of South Africa’s top writers including Craig Hinds of Watershed (“Little Hero”) and Capetonian songstress Cofield (“Only wanna be with you”). The new single “Lighthouse” will ship to radio on January 17 and promises to be another smash hit.
