He may appear as a new kid on the block, but Graeme Watkins has been prominent in the South African entertainment industry since 2006. Once completing his Degree in Theatre and Performance from UCT, Graeme spent 2007 working solidly in various commercials, theatre pieces and the corporate market, and was nominated for a prestigious “Fleur De Cap”, for his work.2009 was a big year for Graeme, when he entered M-Net’s 5th instalment of the South African Idols Series. Graeme, a hot favourite to win, came in at 3rd place and hit the ground running.
Graeme has recently launched his band publicly to much acclaim. They have embraced Graeme’s style and edgy performance technique. Audiences can look forward to a vast repertoire ranging from:
The Rat Pack Set: Incorporating much loved swing and jazz numbers made famous predominantly by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darrin, Sammy Davis Jnr, and most recently by the likes of Michael Buble and Robbie Williams.
The Millennium Set: A combination of the great sixties, seventies and eighties hits. Ranging from “The Beatles, to Queen, and Joe Cocker to Dire Straits” this set is guaranteed to get anyone off their feet and headed straight to the dance floor.
The Club Set: In this set Graeme incorporates his latest and greatest dance hits. He brings in some of the later set from the Millennium set, and progresses onto the very recent radio hits, ranging from “Kings of Leon, to Black eyed Peas, MGMT to the Killers”. Everyone will be dancing along in unison as he throws in a couple of his Idols hits as well, including his signature song Loslappie.
