The Dixie Hillbillies are exceptional musicians and the response is really overwhelming, both from live audiences as well as from the media. They perform a huge variety of music, from laid back instrumentals (during the dinner set) to up-tempo “party hits” during the dance sets.
Many genres of music are covered, ie. Commercial, Bluegrass and Hillbilly, Rock, Country, Reggae, Jazz, Boere-Hillbilly etc. They also perform plenty of Afrikaans hits (Dozi, Steve Hofmeyr, Anton Goosen, Bok van Blerk etc) as well as Cultural Heritage Music (Brenda Fassi, Johnny Clegg, Mango Groove, Bright Blue, Soweto String Quartet etc). Their repertoire is ideal for any South African audience. The “party songs” include “Have you ever seen the Rain” (CCR), “Proud Mary” (CCR), “Paint it Black” (Rolling Stones), “Duelling Banjos” (the movie “Deliverance”), Bob Marley Medley, Neil Diamond Medley, “Sweet home Alabama” (Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Blue Suede Shoes” (Elvis), “Hard Day’s Night” and “Hey Jude” (Beatles) , “Brown Eyed Girl” (Van Morrison), “Thunderstruck” (AC-DC) and many more............
